'Massive' - Exclusive: Alex Bruce lauds Newcastle 'good signing'
Alex Bruce has heralded the impact Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has had since his arrival at St James’ Park.
The son of Magpies boss Steve, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that having someone like the Slovakian international makes a “massive difference” to the rest of the side.
Dubravka, who joined Newcastle in the January transfer window of 2018, has been the first choice between the sticks this season, having established himself as a mainstay under former boss Rafael Benitez.
Having played as a centre-back throughout his career, Alex Bruce says having a good goalkeeper behind you can make all the difference.
Asked if Dubravka was the sort of keeper he’d want to play ahead of, the former Hull man told Football Insider: “Yeah, yeah of course. It makes a massive difference when you’ve got a good goalkeeper between the sticks.
“Ever since he came to the country, even before dad was there he had a great debut against Manchester United on telly and he’s gone from strength to strength.

“He’s been a good servant to Newcastle and a good signing.”
Dubravka has played every single Premier League game for Newcastle since making his debut against Manchester United in February 2018, with 77 top-flight appearances under his belt.
The Magpies also have the likes of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot on their books, as well as Freddie Woodman, who is currently on loan at Swansea City.
In other Newcastle United news, Michael Brown cannot believe one deal that the Magpies have managed to pull off.
