Rangers face a trip to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen in Steven Gerrard’s first league game in charge of the Gers – and fans can’t wait to see their side in action under their new boss.

The fixtures were confirmed on Friday morning as the SPFL revealed the fixture list for the coming season on Twitter.

The Gers and Dons were involved in a fight for second in the table last season with Derek McInnes’ side coming out on top – and the Ibrox giants will kick off the season on August 5th when they head north.

The Light Blues will be desperate to get their season off to a strong start and a win at Pittodrie would be a fantastic way to kick off the campaign for Gerrard’s side.

Gers fans are delighted with the opening day trip to Pittodrie – with on fan saying they are already “buzzing” ahead of the new campaign getting started.

The Ibrox giants’ first home game in the league comes six days later when newly-promoted St. Mirren come to visit.

The first Old Firm clash of the season takes place on September 1st at Celtic Park before the Hoops cross the city on December 29th.
