'Leave the club', 'Goodbye' - Tottenham fans react to senior player display v Newport

By Richard Parks
Tottenham fans took to Twitter to lay into Moussa Sissoko for his performance in their 2-0 FA Cup fourth-round replay win against Newport County on Wednesday night.
A Dan Butler own goal midway through the opening period put the League Two minnows on the back foot before Erik Lamela’s first goal since September 2016 sealed the points for the home side in a Wembley stroll.
It means Spurs will travel to League One outfit Rochdale for the fifth round of the competition and keeps alive the club’s hopes of ending their trophy drought.
But it was not all sweetness and light as far as supporters were concerned, even though Mauricio Pochettino made 10 changes to the starting XI and was able to rest key players ahead of Saturday’s north London derby and next Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 first leg clash against Juventus.
Sissoko played the full 90 minutes of the match against Newport and was involved in the own goal opener as he made his 35th appearance of the season in all competitions.
But Tottenham supporters destroyed him on social media, claiming his performance against the fourth-tier outfit was “embarrassing” and that he should “leave the club”.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
