‘Graham Potter is getting sacked tonight’ – West Ham fans explode
Graham Potter is being offered no route back with the West Ham fans after the defeat against Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.
West Ham fans made their feelings clear about Potter’s future during the 2-1 loss on Saturday, 20 September, with the Hammers being sunk by goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell.
Jarrod Bowen scored the Hammers’ only goal of the afternoon, handing the manager his 14th loss in 25 games since replacing Julen Lopetegui in January.
Karren Brady has opened talks with Nuno Espirito Santo and Gary O’Neil, neither of whom has excited fans, but there are very few options available for the Irons right now.
Despite this, recent fan protests would suggest that the majority are ready for an immediate change.
West Ham fans want Graham Potter gone
Supporters are absolutely furious with Potter, with one fan adamant that he should not be in charge when the Hammers travel to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to face Everton on Monday, 29 September.
- @danwoff98: “That should be it for Graham Potter. Simply can’t continue like this, as it’s only going in one direction. Whoever comes in ultimately has their work cut out to say the least. Soul-destroying period and another dark day for West Ham. The fans deserve so much more.”
- @WestHam_Central: “And that surely marks the end of Graham Potter’s spell as West Ham manager, our worst manager in the club’s history.”
- @cockneyboywhu: “He’s on repeat every weekend, just sack him and get Nuno in.”
There appears to be no way back for the former Chelsea and Brighton figure now, with his side currently floundering in 18th position in the Premier League table, three points above rock-bottom.
From reactions online, it appears that fans are not bothered who comes in to replace him this week, just as long as Brady and David Sullivan work together to find a solution.
Clearly, fans have lost patience. Can anyone really blame them?
Who has a worse record as West Ham manager?
Lopetegui emerged as West Ham’s worst-ever manager in terms of win percentage, but that has changed now as Potter continues to face defeats across all competitions.
The Hammers have one win in their last six matches, including being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Wolves in August, and the pressure is at an all-time high after Saturday’s defeat.
Supporters are prepared to admit that he is worse than Lou Macari, Avram Grant, and Manuel Pellegrini, and after yet another loss, it is difficult to argue against this verdict in East London.
O’Neil’s appointment would not be greeted very well due to his family ties with Millwall, but fresh from his job at Nottingham Forest, Espirito Santo could be the perfect short-term option out there.
