Graham Roberts laughs at Arsenal after this historical moment, Tottenham fans will love it

By Amir Mir

Former Tottenham defender Graham Roberts has laughed at Arsenal’s recent Champions League displays after Leicester City qualified for the quarter-finals on Tuesday night.

The Foxes beat La Liga giants Sevilla 2-0 at the King Power Stadium to progress through to the next round of the European competition for the first time in their history.

The Premier League champions won the encounter 3-2 on aggregate in what was a dramatic and historical evening in the Midlands.

Goals from Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton had given the home team a slender advantage before on-loan Manchester City player Samir Nasri was sent off with 16 minutes left on the clock.

Former Stoke midfielder Steven N’Zonzi had the opportunity to take the tie into extra time but his late penalty was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.

After that memorable win from the Foxes, Roberts couldn’t help but remind Arsenal fans of their failings in Europe in recent seasons, comments Spurs fans will love.

“Well done to Leicester, they have done further than Arsenal have in the last seven years,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Arsene Wenger’s side were beaten 10-2 on aggregate by German champions Bayern Munich, the seventh consecutive season they have been knocked out at the last 16 stage.

At this moment in time, the Frenchman is under huge pressure at the north London club with many supporters questioning his future at the Emirates.

Wenger’s contract at Arsenal expires in the summer with the former Monaco boss currently in his 21st year in charge of the club.

During that time he has failed to lift the European Cup, narrowly losing to Barcelona in the final in 2006.
