Granit Xhaka makes bold claim about Arsenal, fans will be incredulous
By Danny Wright
Under-fire Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has claimed that Arsenal are as good as Bayern Munich, despite a 10-2 aggregate loss to them in this year’s Champions League.
He has also said that while he’s a strong character on and off the pitch, his detractors go too far.
The 24-year-old cost the Gunners a staggering £33.8million in the summer but he is yet to fully convince the Emirates faithful.
Xhaka has been sent off twice for Arsenal this season and has picked up eight yellow cards as supporters and pundits have called for him to work on his discipline.
When asked about the criticism, Xhaka said that he “doesn’t mind” it, but he won’t be thinking about changing his mind-set any time soon to appease the angry Arsenal supporters.

“I’m not that easy to knock down, nobody can destroy me. But I’m bothered by people who call me dirty, dumb, and brainless. You don’t say words like those to people you don’t know,” said Xhaka to Blick.
“That’s my game. If you take it away from me, I’m not the same anymore.
When asked about the recent defeats to Bayern Munich, Xhaka said they were “very bad” but insisted that Arsenal are on the same level as the Germans.
When it was said that was a bold statement, he went on to say, “Bold, yes. But I feel so.
“And I am annoyed by the defeats mainly because I have good memories of Bavaria. We were able to beat the Munich team three times with Gladbach . And I do not think Gladbach is on par with Arsenal. So…”
The majority of Arsenal fans – especially the vocal section calling for Arsene Wenger to leave – won’t agree.
This year was the seventh straight time the club has been eliminated from the Champions League at the Round of 16. And Bayern Munich also beat them 5-1 in last year’s competition.
In other Arsenal news, Lee Dixon says this Gunners midfielder needs to be more like an in-form Tottenham star.
