Lee Dixon: Arsenal first teamer would be 10 times better if he was more like Tottenham youngster

Lee Dixon has risked upsetting Arsenal fans everywhere by claiming Mesut Ozil would be “10 times a better player” if he had the nasty streak of Dele Alli.
Gunners legend Dixon made the comparison after Alli showed further glimpses of his remarkable talent with an impressive display in England’s 1-0 defeat to Germany on Wednesday night.
The Tottenham playmaker, 20, played 71 minutes of the friendly in Dortmund, while Ozil played no part in the match due to injury.
But Dixon made the comparison between the two attacking midfielders following a campaign in which Alli has had a second consecutive eyecatching season for Spurs, while Ozil has once again failed to live up to his reputation across the Seven Sisters Road at Arsenal.
The former right-back admitted he is a big admirer of Alli’s qualities.

“If he’s playing in the first team long term he is doing something right,” Dixon said during ITV 1’s live coverage of the England match on Wednesday night. “The fact that he has come into Tottenham’s first team and they are building around him, and now England, I think his talent is limitless.
“That streak within him is part of his drive to stay above everybody else. Özil, if he had half of what Dele Alli has got, that nasty streak, he would be 10 times a better player than what he is. He hasn’t got what Alli has got.”
Alli was deployed by Gareth Southgate in a withdrawn role behind spearhead Jamie Vardy that also enabled his fellow in-form playmaker Adam Lallana used in a free roles in a new-look 3-4-3 system.
The Spurs ace has been in outstanding form for his during the key months of the season, scoring 17 goals and supplying eight assists in 39 matches in all competitions.
He is one of the many first-team players in the Tottenham squad who have committed to new, long-term contracts in recent times as Mauricio Pochettino’s high flyers close in on a second consecutive top-four finish.
