‘A great honour’ – Kitman reveals heartfelt message from reported outgoing Newcastle man
By Danny Wright
The kitman for the England youth team has revealed a heartfelt letter that was sent to him by Newcastle’s young star Freddie Woodman.
Pat Frost worked alongside the England Under-20’s as they triumphed in the Under-20 World Cup in South Korea last month.
Woodman, 20, played a vital role in helping the Young Lions lift the trophy as he kept four clean sheets in six appearances, with one coming the final as England beat Venezuela 1-0 thanks to a goal from Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Frost, who used to work with West Brom, posted the message from Woodman on his personal Twitter account on Monday night.
The letter read: “I’d like to thank you for the time, effort and hard work you and the rest of the staff put in to help us achieve our goal.
“To share winning the World Cup with you and this team is a great honour.”
The Sun journalist Alan Nixon reported on his personal Twitter account at the weekend that Woodman is expected to leave Newcastle on loan this summer.
It was claimed that the outgoing Magpies man is expected to move to a Scottish club, following a successful temporary stint with Kilmarnock last term.
Woodman has never made a single senior appearance for Newcastle, but will be hoping to use a loan move to show Rafa Benitez that his can challenge Tim Krul, Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot for the No 1 shirt.
Newcastle have a lot of goalkeepers currently on their books at the moment, so a loan move for Woodman could prove to be logical as he would perhaps not feature much in the upcoming Premier League season.
In other Newcastle news, a promotion contender is set to launch a bid for this Magpies fringe player by exceeding the club’s asking price.
