‘Gutted’ – Nottingham Forest fans react as player exit confirmed
Nottingham Forest supporters have made their thoughts clear after Jota Silva’s move to Besiktas was confirmed on Friday.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis has overseen several changes at the City Ground in recent days, with Ange Postecoglou replacing Nuno Espirito Santo as boss.
Silva has joined Espirito Santo in making his departure from the East Midlands, despite spending just one full season with Forest.
The 26-year-old winger scored four goals and produced two assists in 37 appearances across all competitions last term.
In contrast, his solitary appearance this season came in the 3-1 win over Brentford on the Premier League’s opening weekend.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their next top-flight game on Saturday, 13 September.
The presence of former Tottenham boss Postecoglou in the Forest dugout adds an intriguing narrative to the City Ground outfit’s clash with the Gunners.
In their last Premier League encounter before the international break, Nottingham Forest were beaten 3-0 by West Ham United.
Therefore, Postecoglou’s first task in charge of his new club is to reestablish the strong form they enjoyed for large spells of last season.
Meanwhile, Silva’s exit comes after Nottingham Forest signed fellow wingers Omari Hutchinson and Dan Ndoye in the summer transfer window.
Hutchinson struggled in the Premier League with Ipswich Town last season before starring for England in their triumphant European Under-21 Championship campaign.
Contrastingly, Ndoye notched nine goals and six assists for Bologna in all competitions last season, making eight appearances in the Champions League.
This month is vital for both Forest’s recent signings and their new manager, as they begin their Carabao Cup and Europa League campaigns.
