'Stinker' - Joey Barton tears into yet another Celtic first teamer
Rangers flop Joey Barton has torn into Celtic attacker Scott Sinclair by saying that he had a “stinker” of a time in England.
Sinclair, 28, failed to stand out at Manchester City, West Brom and Aston Villa before signing for Celtic in 2016 and winning the player of the season award in his first campaign as well as a domestic treble.
Barton has been in a ruthless mood and also set his sights on Hoops captain Scott Brown, questioning the Scot’s state of mind and suggested he cheated to get Motherwell’s Cedric Kipre sent off at the weekend.
Speaking on TalkSport, Barton also decided to slam Parkhead first teamer Sinclair for his time in England and claiming that none of the Bhoys squad has been able to prove themselves south of the border.
“The fact that them boys have never come down to the big league to test themselves, says a lot about them,” he said, as shown on TalkSport’s official Facebook account on Monday.
“Who’s the geezer they were trying to talk for an England call-up, who had a stinker here (England)? Sinclair. Come on, you can’t be [serious].”

Football Insider verdict
Out of all the points that Barton has made in his rant about Scottish football, this is perhaps the only one that carries any weight to it. Sinclair was horrific after leaving Swansea and had failed spells at three different English clubs. He was a key player in the Aston Villa team when they suffered their first ever relegation from the Premier League and then suddenly became the best player in Scotland. Brendan Rodgers obviously knows how to get the best out of him but his time in England proved what sort of level he is at and he should not be considered for an England call-up any time soon. His form has hit rock bottom yet again though in the last few months, proving that he was maybe a one-season wonder for the Bhoys.
