Garry Monk is reportedly set to hold talks with Leeds within the next week – and fans on Twitter are absolutely delighted.

The Sun reported on Sunday that the 38-year-old was facing the axe at the Yorkshire giants after missing out on the play-offs in his first season in charge.

However, the club’s fan base were of a different mindset and after the weekend’s 3-3 draw against Norwich supporters rushed out in their droves to urge the Leeds hierarchy to hand Monk a new deal.

It is now looking as though the fans’ wishes are being met, as BBC journalist Adam Pope wrote on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon that talks between the club and Monk would begin in the next week in regards to his future.

This snippet of news has now been received with great joy by the Leeds fan base on social media with many keen to put the uncertainty regarding Monk’s future behind them as soon as possible.

One fan simply replied to Pope’s Tweets with “hallelujah,” while others hailed the news as “great.”

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Leeds will take on relegated Wigan on the final day of the season and then it is likely the club will press on with their plans for the next campaign.
