Harry Kane backed to quit Tottenham after Sky update – ‘it’s a great club for him’, says pundit

Frank McAvennie has backed Harry Kane to quit Tottenham for Bayern Munich.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted a move to Germany would be a win-win for both Kane and Tottenham.

According to German Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg (29 November), Bayern are still working on a deal for the 29-year-old.

Bosses at the Bundesliga giants are said to be sceptical as to a deal being agreed with the strikers’ price tag set to be between £70million and £85million.

The England international is waiting until after the World Cup to make a decision on his future.

On Saturday (26 November), this site revealed that Spurs will have to offer Kane an “extraordinary” new contract that trumps his England teammates to keep him at the club.

The Lilywhites are keen to begin negotiations with the veteran who is holding off until he returns from Qatar.

When asked if Tottenham would sell their star man, McAvennie told Football Insider:I think so.

He is a fair age, for that kind of money definitely.

I think Harry would do well in Germany. I think he is that kind of player. He is not going to cause any friction he will just go over there and play his football. I think it could be a good move for him.

I still think he is one of the best strikers in the world. I think deep down he loves scoring goals and he will want to be scoring the goals. I could see him going to Germany.

I think it would be win-win for everybody. The club would get money, he would still be a fan favourite going to Germany and he would not burn any ties with Tottenham. It would be a great club for him because he will win trophies.
