Harry Kane: Man United on alert as Bayern Munich chief hints at exit

Harry Kane has placed a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United on alert as contract talks with Bayern Munich have not progressed.

The 32-year-old is enjoying a record-breaking season in the Bundesliga, and his current deal is set to run until 2027, but there is a feeling he could move on next year.

This comes after honorary president Uli Hoeness confessed the striker could be tempted by a big-money offer from Saudi Arabia despite being happy in Bavaria.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Premier League clubs could take advantage of his potential availability to lure him back to England.

The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of Kane, as have a number of their Premier League rivals, and they will be put on alert as Man United step up their transfer plans.

Could Harry Kane be tempted to leave Bayern Munich?

Brown told Football Insider ahead of the January transfer window that Kane is happy at Bayern Munich despite suggestions that Tottenham could return for him.

While Spurs would likely be ruled out of any race for his signature given their situation, a number of other English clubs are keeping tabs on his potential availability.

While he is still widely expected to put pen to paper on a new deal at Bayern Munich, the lack of concrete progress and Hoeness’ recent confession have sparked new interest.

“Harry Kane’s future is going to be interesting,” Brown told Football Insider.

“A lot will depend on what he wants to do, because everybody you speak to says he’s happy at Bayern Munich, but now it’s been suggested he could be tempted away.

“When people [Hoeness] are saying things like that, of course you’re going to be aware of it.

“If his contract talks maybe aren’t going as planned and they think he could be tempted to go to Saudi, what’s stopping a Premier League clubs from making a move?

“Whoever it may be, Man United maybe or any other club, if Kane is considering leaving Bayern Munich they would be silly not to be having a look.

“He might want to return to England and have a go at breaking Shearer’s record, that was all the talk when he was leaving Tottenham.

“By all accounts, I think he’s happy at Bayern and that’s probably not going to change, but if there is a suggestion he could leave, the interest will be there.”

Man United likely to keep tabs on Kane’s situation

Football Insider revealed last summer that Man United have been keeping tabs on Kane as part of a long-term plan to bring him to Old Trafford.

Kane had a release clause in his contract which became active this year with the initial value of £56million, and United were among the clubs alerted to his situation.

That release clause has since expired, however, with no clubs making moves to trigger it, and the striker will remain at Bayern Munich until at least 2027.

United have been long-term admirers of Kane and attempted to sign him from Tottenham before his move to Munich in 2021, although they were unable to agree terms.

However, they are currently considered outsiders in the race for his signature, with the England star and his family believed to be happy and settled in Germany.
