Harvey Barnes gets ‘class’ message from ex-Newcastle ace after Man United beaten

Harvey Barnes took to social media after scoring a brace in Newcastle’s empathic 4-1 victory over Manchester United at St James’ Park.

In the absence of Eddie Howe in the dugout, Newcastle took their golden opportunity to move into the top four in the Premier League, after comfortably beating Man United on Sunday (13 April).

Newcastle went ahead midway through the first-half, with Alexander Isak at the heart of it, as he teed up Sandro Tonali to volley past Altay Bayindir on his first league start.

The visitors provided a much needed reaction to going behind when Diogo Dalot found the run of Alejandro Garnacho to round off an excellent counter attack with a pinpoint low finish.

However, following the break it was the Magpie’s who took control of proceedings through two quick-fire goals from Barnes prior to Bruno Guimaraes‘ strike after an error from Bayindir, to leave Ruben Amorim facing serious questions at Man United.

In a message from Barnes’ official instagram account on Monday (14 April), the 27-year-old said: “Love scoring here!! Great game from the lads” alongside the club’s signature black and white circle emoji’s.

The pick of the bunch from the comments section was from teammate Tino Livramento who replied: “Playaaaa” in response to the series of images which showed Barnes scoring.

Former Newcastle player Paul Dummett also replied with “Class” alongside a clapping emoji in response to Barnes’ excellent display.

Barnes shares a series of images and videos including his celebration after scoring in the match.

Anthony Gordon faces battle to get his place back in Newcastle’s starting eleven

Following Gordon’s suspension prior to the Carabao Cup final and then his injury while on international duty, many Newcastle fans feared the worst in his absence.

Gordon had become undroppable in Howe’s system on the left prior to this, however if the situation has taught Newcastle one thing, it’s that they are well equip to rely on others moving forward.
