'He hasn't been telling me everything' - Pochettino makes revelation about Tottenham first teamer
By Aramide Oladipo
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he had a huge disagreement with midfielder Eric Dier last year.
The 23-year-old has been important member of the Spurs first-team over the last couple of seasons, helping the North London club to establish themselves as genuine title contenders and Champions League regulars.
The midfielder has continued his fine form this season, featuring in every single Spurs match in all competitions.
However, in his new book Brave New World, the Spurs boss revealed that he had to convince the England international to stay at the club on two separate occasions despite interest from the Premier League rivals Manchester United.
“After we signed [Victor] Wanyama [in summer, 2016], Eric, who now sees himself as a midfielder, felt that we had treated him badly because Wanyama’s arrival would halt his development,” he said as quoted in the Daily Mail.

“His performances have started to suffer this season. We’ve spoken a lot recently but I’ve felt he hasn’t been telling me everything.
“Then I found out that United have made an approach and the player is being destabilised. His people have been putting pressure on him, although United are not promising anything.
“I sat down with Eric after lunch on Monday and we chatted for four hours about the whole shebang: his agent, family, confusion.
“Eric thinks he’s further ahead as a midfielder than as a defender. We had a long chat about that because I disagree.”
The Spurs boss mentioned that Dier rediscovered his focus last February and started to perform better in training.
This astonishing revelation shows why there were a number of stories linking Dier with a summer move to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
The conversations between the two Tottenham men have been seemed to paid dividends as Spurs have enjoyed a fantastic start to the new season both domestically and in the Champions League.
Dier is likely to start in the big Premier League clash against rivals Liverpool on Sunday afternoon at Wembley Stadium.
