Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink: This is where Tottenham rank in the title race
By Harvey Byrne
Sky Sports pundit and former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes Tottenham are the Blues’ closest rivals for the Premier League title.
The north London side are currently sat in second place and trail seven points behind Antonio Conte’s league leaders.
They are in a tight group of teams with Liverpool also on 45 points and behind on goal difference, while Arsenal and Manchester City sit four and two points behind Spurs respectively.
However, former top flight hitman Hasselbaink believes Tottenham are the best equipped to challenge the Blues, pointing out they have leapfrogged fierce rivals Arsenal.
“I agree with Wes (Brown), Tottenham are one that can challenge Chelsea all the way,” started Hasselbaink speaking on Sky Sports News’ Premier League Daily show on Wednesday morning.

“The way that they are playing football. The squad, for me they have the most talented squad. Pochettino’s very positive and has that swagger as well, which is what you need.
“He must have learned last year when they didn’t make it and they have a striker who’s in form, the same as Chelsea scoring goals. So for me, Tottenham are ahead of Arsenal.”
Tottenham have never won the Premier League trophy with their last title win coming all the way back in the 1960-61 campaign.
They were considered Leicester’s main challengers for the title towards the back end of last season, but poor form at the end saw them drop way off with the Gunners able to overtake them on the final day.
Spurs’ recent form has now seen them return as challengers with six victories from their last six league matches.
They face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side at the Etihad next, who will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 4-0 defeat against Everton.
