‘He is finished’ – Celtic told to accept late Daizen Maidea offer

Celtic fans want the club to agree a last-minute sale in the January transfer window after what they saw against Falkirk.

The Hoops beat Falkirk 2-0 to move into second in the Scottish Premiership table after Rangers’ 0-0 draw at Hibernian, but they remain six points behind leaders Hearts.

Tomas Cvancara, who joined Celtic in January to try and solve their issues up front, and Benjamin Nygren scored the goals to secure an important three points.

Celtic are now unbeaten in four Scottish Premiership matches, with O’Neill having stabilised performances after the disastrous reign of Wilfried Nancy.

Daizen Maeda ‘going through the motions’

Daizen Maeda admitted last summer that he wanted to leave Celtic, but the forward has remained at the club so far during the January window.

Maeda has still contributed seven goals and five assists in the Scottish Premiership this season, but there is a feeling that the 28-year-old still wants to finalise a move away.

Celtic fans have been left unimpressed with Maeda’s performances in previous games this season, with the forward not seen as a clinical goalscorer.

Maeda also failed to make an impact against Falkirk, with the Japanese international not having a single shot on the visitors’ goal.

Supporters believe Celtic were a “man down” due to Maeda’s performance on the wing, and that he is finished at the club.

One supporter noticed that midfielder Reo Hatate also looked disinterested, who has also been criticised for his performances at times this season.

Celtic on verge of new signing

Midfielder Arne Engels may also leave Celtic before the January window shuts, with Nottingham Forest potentially making a late move.

Engels started the win over Falkirk, and the 22-year-old has started every game under O’Neill since he returned to the dugout.

With little time to sign a replacement should Engels leave, Celtic are hopeful of adding to their squad rather than weakening it.

Freiburg forward Junior Adamu looks set to join Celtic, with the 24-year-old left out of the German side’s squad against Stuttgart.

Adamu has a medical booked to complete his move to Celtic, where he could make his debut against Aberdeen next, if the deal goes through.
