He wants to be close to Leeds – Exclusive: Bruce reacts as club launch summer move

Alex Bruce has claimed Tottenham defender Danny Rose would turn down the chance to join PSG as he wants to be closer to his family in Leeds.

The former Premier League defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes that moving back closer to home was a reason the 29-year-old joined Newcastle United on loan in January.

As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, the French giants are keen on launching a move for the left-back when the summer transfer window opens, having scouted him during his loan spell at St James’ Park.

Their interest comes after Football Insider revealed that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has told friends he does not expect the defender to play for the club again.

However, Bruce has cast doubts over the Leeds-born star switching London for Paris, suggesting that a desire to be closer to his family was a driving factor behind his loan to Newcastle.

“I think one of the main reasons Danny Rose wanted to head back up to Newcastle was to be closer to his family in Leeds,” Bruce told Football Insider when asked about PSG’s interest in a summer move.

“I think it would kind of defeat the object him moving over to Paris, wouldn’t it? We’ll have to watch this space with that one.”

Rose managed to play just six times for Steve Bruce’s side before the shut down of the Premier League, having featured intermittently for Tottenham during the first half of the season.

He has a total of 214 Spurs appearances under his belt, as well as 29 caps for England.

In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that Harry Kane may have a “gentleman’s agreement” with Daniel Levy over blockbuster transfer.
