'He'll be perfect' - Exclusive: Bent urges Celtic to sign PL forward amid reported speculation
Darren Bent urged Celtic to sign Brighton & Hove Albion forward Glenn Murray as he’d definitely score goals for them.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England international believes Murray could be perfect for the Hoops as he could be a foil for Odsonne Edouard.
It was reported that Celtic are linked with a move for the 36-year-old with them needing more options upfront but as of yet Brighton are yet to be contacted regarding the forward.
Murray has only played 14 times for Graham Potter’s side this season, though has managed to rack up one goal.
Bent suggested that while the Seagulls attacker was a clever footballer, Potter had taken his side in a new direction which means the forward isn’t as important to the team.
When asked if Celtic should sign Murray as he’d probably score lots of goals up in Scotland, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah definitely, he has scored goals wherever he has been.

“He’s a clever footballer, he can score goals and I’d expect him to go up there and do the same.
“I think he’ll be perfect for Edouard as well, as he can be a foil for him, so I’m all for that.
“I’ve always been a big fan of Murray and I’ve always felt he was important to the way Brighton played, but obviously it happens to everybody…he’s got a bit older and Graham Potter has taken the club in a different direction.
“So I’m all for him going up there as he’ll score goals.”
Murray doesn’t have long left on his Brighton contract as it’s due to expire at the end of the season.
The Englishman has been with the Seagulls since joining from Bournemouth in 2017 and has made 275 appearances for the club.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that the club have tabled an offer for a Premier League midfielder.
