Henri Lansbury posts Twitter message to Aston Villa fans

By Amir Mir

Henri Lansbury has stated that he “can’t wait to get started” after making a switch from Nottingham Forest to Aston Villa.

Villa confirmed on their official Twitter account on Friday afternoon that the 26-year-old is the club’s first permanent signing of the January transfer window.

Steve Bruce’s side previously signed Manchester United goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, but the shot-stopper has only signed on a deal until the end of the Championship season.

Nonetheless, Lansbury joins a side that is ten points adrift of the top six as they aim to make an instant return to the Premier League.

After making his move, the club’s new signing had this message to his new supporters as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Lansbury scored six goals for a struggling Forest side as he now hopes to do the same for a Villa team that is lacking bite up front.

Bruce’s men have lost their last three matches in all competitions, including failing to score a goal as they struggle without their star striker Jonathan Kodjia.

The Ivory Coast international is currently away on international duty participating in the on-going Africa Cup on Nations.

Nonetheless, Lansbury will be hoping to make his mark on the team when they take on Preston North End at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

In other Aston Villa news, supporters of Newcastle and Villa have reacted to reports that Joleon Lescott is training with Sunderland.
