‘He’s a donkey’ – Nottingham Forest fans rip into ‘completely useless’ starter after what happened vs Wolves

Nottingham Forest fans have slammed January signing Lorenzo Lucca after his performance in their 0-0 draw against Wolves.

Forest‘s worsening relegation fears saw them in desperate need of a win against lowly Wolves at the City Ground on Wednesday night.

Sean Dyche’s job has come under increasing pressure with his side sitting 17th in the Premier League, just a few points from the relegation zone, and Forest signed Lucca to aid their survival chances last month.

The 25-year-old arrived on loan from Napoli after scoring just once in 16 Serie A appearances throughout the first half of the season.

Lucca scored on his debut for Forest as they lost 3-1 to Leeds last week, but failed to follow a strong first game up in his maiden City Ground outing.

Lorenzo Lucca disappoints against Wolves with numerous missed chances

The Italy international made his first start for the club for the visit of 20th-placed Wolves, but failed to strike Forest into the lead as he wasted two decent chances in the opening 45 minutes.

The first came as Ola Aina delivered a high cross to six-foot-seven-inch Lucca at the back post in the 27th minute, but he was only able to glance it wide of Jose Sa’s goal.

He then spawned the best chance of the first half four minutes later, as a counter-attack saw Callum Hudson-Odoi pick him out in the box, but he drilled the ball over the crossbar from close range.

Lucca was completely anonymous in the second half, as several Forest attacks culminated in a cross across the six-yard box while he was still trying to catch up with play on the edge of the area.

He was substituted off in the 71st minute in place of Igor Jesus, but the hosts were still unable to find the breakthrough late on as it ended 0-0.

Forest fans slam Lucca for ‘absolutely awful’ showing

Jesus impressed up front for Forest at times this season, with 11 goals in 32 appearances, while Taiwo Awoniyi has had to be patient for chances but did score a hugely important goal at Brentford last month.

Either player would likely have offered more than Lucca, given their prior scoring records and experience in the Premier League, with many Reds fans fuming at the Italian striker for his performance

Taking to X, one said: “I can see why Napoli fans called Lucca the plank, he’s been completely useless when we’ve even managed to get the ball close to him.

Another added: “If Lucca is a Premier League striker (then) I need to lace my boots up as I’ve got a chance.”

While one supporter said: “Igor Jesus scores that Lucca 6 on 1 chance (by the way), but he’s out (of) the team for a 6’7 lump because Dyche needs 40 crosses in the box a game to score a goal.”
