Jackie McNamara has claimed imminent new Rangers signing Greg Stewart has a “great left foot” but the jury is out on whether he can shine at Ibrox.
As reported by Football Insider, the Glasgow giants are close to making Stewart their fourth summer signing after he agreed personal terms with the club.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Scotland and Celtic legend McNamara explained how he has seen plenty of the loaned-out Birmingham City playmaker in action for Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.
“Stewart didn’t make it at Birmingham down south but did better at Kilmarnock at the start of the season,” McNamara said. “He has certain attributes like a great left foot and an eye for goal.
“Time will tell if he can do it Rangers. It’s the ability to do a job first and foremost, and then whether their character is mentally strong enough to handle the Ibrox spotlight, especially where social media and things like that are concerned.”
Stewart is being chased by Rangers as he is out of contract at English Championship outfit Birmingham this summer.
He has scored 10 goals and supplied 10 assists in 36 matches for his two Scottish clubs on loan this season but he was far more productive at Kilmarnock in the first half of the campaign.
The Scottish attacker has also had previous spells at Cowdenbeath and Dundee.
In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club are ready to hold talks over terminating the contract of 26-year-old.
