'He's got to play' - Exclusive: Darren Bent suggests West Ham midfielder to be axed v Watford

Darren Bent has tipped West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini to swing the axe on attacking midfielder Pablo Fornals to bring Felipe Anderson back into the side against Watford.

The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, says that Manuel Lanzini is a shoo-in to start and that Robert Snodgrass should not be dropped from the starting XI either, leaving Fornals facing the chop.

Pellegrini was forced to leave Anderson, as well as new striker Sebastien Haller, out for the clash against Brighton due to injury, the Chilean confirming that the pair would be ready to return against Watford.

Bent says that both Anderson and Manuel Lanzini are nailed-on starters for the Hammers when fully fit and that he expects to see summer arrival Fornals dropped instead of Snodgrass.

Asked who would drop out for Anderson, Bent told Football Insider: “If he’s (Anderson) fully fit, he’s got to play.

“For me, when he’s on form, Lanzini is the best player in their squad, I’m saying Lanzini regardless. Not Snodgrass, I’d say Pablo Fornals.”

West Ham picked up their first point of the season against Brighton, Javier Hernandez netting the Irons’ goal on the way to a 1-1 draw with the Seagulls.

Watford meanwhile head into Saturday’s clash sitting bottom of the Premier League table, the Hornets having lost to Brighton on the opening day of the season and Everton last weekend.

In other West Ham news, Football Insider can reveal that Pellegrini has blocked one man from leaving the London Stadium this summer and that he is set to play next week.
