West Ham’s Ashley Fletcher has praised Tottenham’s Harry Kane and labelled him as one of the best strikers in the country.
Fletcher featured in the London derby 1-0 win over Spurs a couple of weeks ago at the London Stadium which all but ended Tottenham’s chances of winning the Premier League title.
Speaking with West Ham’s official website, Fletcher recalled the performance and stated: “It was the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in myself.
“Obviously getting on in a London derby against Spurs, I know how much it means to the fans, so for us to win the game as we did and end their title hopes was a good achievement.”
The youngster also revealed that he looks at the Tottenham striker alongside Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as inspiration to achieve great things in the Premier League.
“For me, as a young player coming through, if I’m given an opportunity and a run in the team, it can only benefit me,” he said.
“I look at Marcus Rashford who has taken his chance, stayed in the team and now he’s one of the best strikers in England. The same goes for Harry Kane as well.”
Kane has been in phenomenal form this season and his performances have spearheaded Tottenham to a second placed finish for the first time ever in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old Spurs striker scored a last-minute winner against West Ham in a thrilling 3-2 league victory at White Hart Lane back in November.
Fletcher’s playing time at West Ham has been limited as he has only made two Premier League starts this season and he has only managed to score a single goal, which came against his former side Manchester United in a 4-1 loss in the EFL Cup.
