Heskey: Liverpool must learn to do this crucial skill
By Dominic Toner
Emile Heskey believes that Liverpool must learn to win ugly if they are to be a top side.
The Reds are currently in a tough battle for the top four spots and are just one point adrift in fifth.
Jurgen Klopp’s sole focus is now on the league after exiting both the FA and EFL Cup in January, meaning they have just 13 fixtures remaining this season.
They achieved a convincing 2-0 victory against top four rivals Tottenham in their last game, but have lost to the likes of Hull and Swansea recently.
Ex-Reds striker Heskey claims that the Merseyside club must start to grind out results and states it’s not enough just to dominate possession.

“Adam Lallana touched on it, it’s about winning ugly,” Heskey said, as quoted by the club’s official website. “That’s one of the major things people are going to be looking at.
“They are dominating games [and] it’s nice to see possession and opportunities, but are they taking them? That’s one of the things you have to do.”
Liverpool were regarded as main contenders for the league title earlier in the season, but have slipped 11 points behind leaders Chelsea.
They are now focused on obtaining a Champions League spot and face reigning champions Leicester on Monday in their next match.
The Reds managed to recapture their best form in the win over Spurs and are delighted to have Sadio Mane back from the Africa Cup of Nations.
In other Liverpool news, the club’s midfielder has made a hilarious comment about Jamie Carragher.
