Hojbjerg is getting away with it in a Tottenham shirt – Campbell

Kevin Campbell is baffled as to how Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg escaped the North London derby without a booking.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker said the number of fouls the 25-year-old got away with was “was nothing short of ridiculous”.

Hojbjerg was not at his best on Sunday, as Jose Mourinho’s side were beaten 2-1 by their bitter rivals at the Emirates.

The centre-midfielder lost 67 per cent of his duels against Mikel Arteta’s side – his worst statistical showing in that respect all season. (Wyscout)

He committed four fouls in the loss but was not booked by referee Michael Oliver.

When asked for his thoughts on the Denmark international’s performance, Campbell told Football Insider: “I will tell you this much, how he did not get booked is beyond me.

“Hojbjerg never got booked and he did something like 15 fouls! It was nothing short of ridiculous.

“He is a player who tries to stem the tide but he could not do that against us. He was overrun in the midfield. Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka bossed it in there.

“Ndombele and Hojbjerg are good players but Arsenal were far better on the day. They need to hold their hands up and move on.”

£15million summer signing from Southampton, Hojbjerg has been one of Tottenham’s standout performers this season and ever-present in the Premier League.

No player in the Premier League has won more defensive duels.
