Hudson-Odoi sends heartfelt message after Nottingham Forest exit announcement

Callum Hudson-Odoi shared a touching message on social media after a Nottingham Forest exit was announced.

Having failed to live up to the lofty expectations that were held for him as a teenager, Chelsea sold the 24-year-old to the Tricky Trees in 2023 for just £5million [TNT Sports].

Since making the move to the Midlands, Hudson-Odoi has found his feet and established himself as a crucial part of Forest’s team.

The former Chelsea man has nailed down the left-wing spot as his own, and his on-pitch chemistry with Man City-target Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga, and Chris Wood helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to a seventh-placed finish.

But with just a year remaining on his contract, Forest have a decision to make on Hudson-Odoi’s future, Keith Wyness told Football Insider.

Hudson-Odoi shares parting message with Harry Toffolo

Whilst Hudson-Odoi’s future remains uncertain, the same cannot be said of Harry Toffolo, who will depart Forest this summer.

The left-back joined the club in 2022, going on to make 57 appearances, but featured just seven times last season.

Hudson-Odoi shared a message to the defender on his Instagram story that read: “Gonna miss you brother!! Good luck on your next journey”.

Nottingham Forest find a healthy balance in transfer strategy

Football Insider Verdict

Just below the top six, there is a cluster of teams made up of Forest, Fulham, Brighton, Bournemouth, and Brentford, who are all jostling with each other to claim the crown as best of the rest.

In doing so, they have all been forced to adopt a specific transfer approach.

Brighton, Bournemouth, and Brentford have opted for a heavy data-led approach, which relies on unearthing younger hidden gems worldwide before selling them on for hefty profits.

Meanwhile, Fulham have instead taken to picking up established and older players for knock-off prices, usually with a wealth of Premier League experience.

But this season, Forest showed the virtues of finding a balance between the two styles. Their squad featured players such as Murillo and Ramon Sosa, signed from abroad with little known about them, whilst also having Elanga and Hudson-Odoi, two players that bigger sides were happy to take a small fee for.

This summer, the Tricky Trees are continuing to add youth to their squad by signing Igor Jesus, Cuiabano and Jair Cunha from Botafogo, and will no doubt be on the lookout for more bargain’s available to them in the Premier League.
