‘Massive bonus’ – Exclusive: Mills drools over Leeds player after early team news v Preston
Danny Mills claimed Leeds United had received a big boost ahead of their Boxing Day clash with Preston North End with Tyler Roberts being fit again.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Leeds defender heaped praise on Roberts for his ability to play in a variety of different positions.
Leeds confirmed in an early team news update on their Twitter account that Roberts, as well as Jamie Shackleton, were available to face Preston after a spell on the sideline.
Mills explained that due to Roberts’ size as well as his strength, it was a massive bonus for Marcelo Bielsa to be able to call upon him.
When asked if it was a big boost for Roberts to be fit again, Mills told Football Insider: “Yeah, I think you need players like that in this day and age who can play a multitude of different positions.
“On the pitch, you have to be athletes and the fact he has size and strength on his side, it’s obviously a massive bonus.”
Roberts played no part in Leeds’ last five league games, with the Whites seeing their unbeaten streak end in their last outing courtesy of Fulham.
The 20-year-old, who can play as a centre-forward as well as in midfield, has featured nine times this season, scoring one goal in the process.
Roberts has been at Elland Road since joining from West Bromwich Albion in January 2018 and is contracted to stay with the Championship outfit until 2022.
In other Leeds United news, Danny Mills has tipped the Whites to sign ‘Fabulous’ Man City player next month.
