Alex Bruce insists that Oliver Casey is a “huge prospect” for Leeds United after he signed a new long-term contract at Elland Road.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Leeds defender believes the Whites view the teenage centre-back as a “big asset” if they are willing to tie him down for the foreseeable future.
Leeds confirmed on Tuesday that the 19-year-old had agreed terms on a new three-year deal in what is his second professional contract at Elland Road.

The defender has played just once for Leeds’ senior side since breaking through the youth ranks but he has been an unused substitute for a handful of games this season.
Bruce believes the Whites view Casey as one of their most exciting talents if they are willing to commit to a three-year deal and congratulated the youngster on his new contract.
Bruce told Football Insider: “Obviously a huge prospect, a big asset to the club if they’re giving him a three-year deal at that age.
“They obviously see a bright future for him so well played to the lad, he’s obviously done well to get a contract like that is exciting times for the lad.”
Casey made his debut for Leeds against Huddersfield back in December 2019 when he replaced Mateusz Klich off the bench with five minutes left to play.
Bielsa’s first-choice centre-back pairing this season has been Ben White and Liam Cooper, with Gaetano Berardi and even Kalvin Phillips filling in at times.
In other Leeds United news, Bruce has been left gutted by a “big kick in the teeth” for the Whites.
