Sunday’s draw at Liverpool will give West Brom a “huge amount of confidence” going into tonight’s fixture against Leeds United, according to Paul Robinson.
The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the players will now buy into Sam Allardyce’s plan for the club going forward.
West Brom grabbed their first point under Allardyce on Sunday as the newly-promoted side frustrated the Premier League champions at Anfield.
Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds await the buoyant Baggies, who are currently five points adrift of safety.
Robinson, who played under Allardyce at Blackburn Rovers, believes the result at Liverpool is a “huge” moment in the club’s fight for survival.
“If you look at the table, the point hasn’t really helped them but on the other hand it is a massive point.
“It was a free hit going to Anfield. Nobody expected them to get anything.
“Sam will be delighted with the performance of his players. They have carried out his instructions and done exactly what he wanted them to do.
“It was a point that was well deserved and it will spread a huge amount of confidence through the team. Most importantly for the manager it spreads belief, the players will buy into what he is doing now.
“Sam will create an atmosphere in the dressing room and around the training ground from a result like that. It is a huge building platform for them.
“Those players are capable. That is points at Liverpool and Manchester City. That result will be a springboard for them.”
