Sources: Cheltenham, Oldham and Carlisle race to sign Hull City ace Arthur

Cheltenham Town, Oldham Athletic and Carlisle United are chasing Hull City defender Festus Arthur, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The German could head out of the KCOM Stadium after signing last year on a three-year deal.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that EFL trio Cheltenham, Oldham and Carlisle are plotting loan moves for Arthur.

Hull have been busy in the transfer market after Andy Cannon, George Moncur and Randell Williams all joined on free transfers in June.

The Tigers also confirmed the loan capture of Ryan Longman after this site revealed on 7th July that they were close to finalising the signing of the 20-year-old winger.

Germany-born Arthur is yet to make his league debut for Hull but has featured twice in the EFL Trophy.

He was also named on the substitutes bench for their FA Cup second-round defeat to Stevenage in November last year.

A serious injury sustained in January stopped him from playing any part for Grant McCann’s side in the second half of the campaign as they were crowned League One Champions.

He began his career with Stockport County in the National League where he made 37 appearances and scored twice in the truncated 2019-20 season.

McCann described Arthur as “phenomenal” when he signed for Hull City from the Hatters last July in a reported £50,000 deal.

Arthur is accomplished in midfield as well as in defence and is noted to be a commanding two-footed operator.

In other news, League One MK Dons have agreed to sign 22-year-old Cardiff City striker with announcement expected in next 24 hours.
