Hutton delivers insight on Mark Noble after 'big' West Ham news - 'I've met him a few times'
Alan Hutton has suggested Mark Noble will “need help” in his new role as sporting director at West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that after meeting Noble it was clear “he knows what he’s talking about”.
On 22 September, the club confirmed the 35-year-old will be taking up the role of sporting director in January 2023.
The ex-Hammers midfielder said he believes in the “ambition shown by the board” and is “excited” to help continue the club’s success.
Hutton is adamant the former Irons captain will be up to the challenge.
“There’s no doubt it’s a big role but he’s a really clever guy, I know that,” he told Football Insider.

“I’ve played against him, I’ve met him a few times and the way he talks, the way he carries himself, he knows what he’s talking about. This wasn’t an overnight decision of ‘I’ll just go into sporting director’. He’s obviously been working towards this, doing his badges and qualifications that he’s needed to get here and he loves the club, that’s probably the main thing.
“He knows everything about it, he’s been there his whole life. He knows what it means to the fans and I think he would always do his best for the team. Yes he’s probably going to need a little bit of help, it’s his first job so he’ll need that help but I have no doubts that he’ll do well.“
