Hutton hails latest Celtic move as announcement close – ‘I like it’
The latest football business move from Celtic will massively benefit youth players.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton “likes” the Hoops’ move to strike up a partnership with Austrian side Admira Wacker.
According to The Herald (23 June), the nine-times Austrian champions want to link up with the Celts and be a feeder club to the Scottish champions in order to improve their own fortunes after being relegated from the Austrian Bundesliga last summer.
The deal is set to include player development and loan deals between the clubs and according to Admira Wacker’s president an official announcement will be made soon.
Hutton insisted the partnership is a good move for Celtic to develop their youth players.
“I quite like it, I think it is a good idea especially if you have got young, talented players coming through the ranks,” he told Football Insider.
“They are not going to get into the first team right away because it is difficult, you have to hit the ground running and you have to win trophies.
“It gives the young kids an opportunity to go an be involved in another culture, another league and try something new, I think it makes them better to come back and get in the first team.

“The flip side to that is that if a player is coming through over there that has developed really well, you can bring them through because you have got that connection.
“It can work both ways so it will be interesting to see how it works in the long-term.“
