Hutton makes bold Alexander-Arnold claim after latest show-stopping Liverpool display

Alan Hutton has insisted there is still “a lot more to come” from Trent Alexander-Arnold after his recent fine run of form for Liverpool.

The former Scotland full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted the 23-year-old is getting back to his best after a lean period for the Reds.

The marauding right-back has contributed six assists in his last six games for Liverpool, while he also scored against West Ham.

As detailed by WhoScored, Alexander-Arnold has contributed the most Premier League assists (11) in 2021.

Two of those came in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Arsenal.

Hutton admitted the England international has “set his bar so high” with his performances in previous seasons.

Despite that, he suggested Alexander-Arnold can still take his game to new heights.

“He’s only 23, he’s still got more to come, as daft as that sounds,” Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“He’s set his bar so high, I think that’s what we constantly judge him off. In the previous seasons where he’s had assists and goals, he’s always judged on that.

“When you’re so young, you’re going to have dips in form. I mean, pressure does get to you at stages. He’s had to deal with a lot in his young career.

“It’s nice to see him back at the level that we know we can get to. Assists are key for him, getting high up the pitch. His deliveries are excellent.

“He’s only going to get better, he’s still only 23-years-of-age. You don’t really hit your peak until 27, 28 so there’s a lot more to come. It’s very good to see that he’s hitting those levels that we expect.”

Alexander-Arnold has played 13 times and contributed nine assists this term.
