Hutton makes ‘dangerous’ Rangers claim after what he saw from Ryan Kent
Alan Hutton is worried Rangers are letting too many errors creep into their game.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender criticised the players for “switching off” in the Scottish Cup semi-final which allowed Celtic to score what would be the winning goal.
As shown on Viaplay Sports (1 May), as Nicolas Raskin protests against a foul on Matt O’Riley, Daizen Maeda takes advantage of the lapse in concentration to pick up the loose ball and find Jota in space inside the box.
The winger headed past Allan McGregor after escaping James Tavernier and put the Hoops 1-0 in front in the first half.
The mistake from the Light Blues resulted in the only goal of the match as Celtic progressed to the final next month.
Hutton is worried about the number of occasions he sees the players making critical mistakes.
“The problem with Rangers is that it happens too many times,” he told Football Insider.
“It is something that is slipping into their game especially recently. [Ryan] Kent first and foremost switches off, then after that it is just a catalogue of errors.
“It is one thing after another. It probably is a foul, Raskin on O’Riley but the referee has not given it. It is the old cliché that you have to play to the whistle but it is very true especially when they are playing against Celtic, it is a dangerous situation.
“After that it is another error, Barisic is slow to react, he has his arms up in the air. Tavernier is sleeping at the back post and Jota runs off the back of him. There is nothing the goalkeeper can do.

“There is just a catalogue of errors, one after another after another. You can’t give Celtic those opportunities.
“Now Rangers go out of the semi-final because of that one mistake. They did it before at Parkhead, two errors that cost them and it is creeping into their game. It is something that Beale is going to have to fix.“
