Hutton makes 'massive' Morelos selection claim for Rangers v Malmo tonight
Alan Hutton has tipped Steven Gerrard to start Alfredo Morelos for Rangers for the crunch Champions League qualifier against Malmo.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old must lead the line at Ibrox.
Morelos was absent for the 2-1 defeat in the first leg after missing training but returned to the starting XI against Dundee United.
The Colombia international played 82 minutes as the Light Blues suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Ibrox.
Hutton admitted while Cedric Itten had held his own against Malmo, he lacked the necessary pace.
As such, he suggested Gerrard’s decision to start Morelos was in preparation for tonight’s (August 10th) clash.

Asked why he thought Morelos was thrown straight into the starting XI, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it’s definitely getting him up to speed.
“The game tonight is absolutely massive in terms of what Rangers want to do moving forward in the Champions League. They need him, they need him firing.
“It looked to me that it was a case of get him in and let him play. It doesn’t matter if he’s rusty or not, prepare him for tonight’s game.
“I thought Itten did well against Malmo, he held the ball up well. He was isolated at times but he did do his job, he just lacked that little bit of pace.
“He held his own but I think on these big European nights, you need your top striker.
“You need them firing so I think it was a case of getting Morelos in, minutes in the legs and prepared for tonight’s game. He’s starting.”
