McLeish makes 'phenomenal' McCann claim after Rangers confirmation
Alex McLeish has claimed Charlie McCann has sealed a “phenomenal move” by joining Rangers from Manchester United.
The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 19-year-old needed a move to continue his development away from Old Trafford.
Rangers confirmed the capture of McCann from United on July 30th, with the teenager initially joining the B team at Ibrox.
As revealed by Football Insider (July 30th), Rangers will pay around £750,000 for the promising midfielder.
McCann had initially joined Manchester United as a 16-year-old from Coventry City.
McLeish suggested competition ahead of the youngster had perhaps stunted his progress with the Red Devils.

He insisted the move to Rangers would be a huge shot in the arm for the teenager.
McLeish told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge: “There’s got to be a good reason for him leaving Man United.
“It would obviously be competition that’s ahead of him and something that could be blunting his progress.
“It’s a phenomenal move for him to go to Rangers, first and foremost, because players sometimes down the divisions.
“To go to a team like Rangers, it must give him another surge of confidence.
“We possibly won’t see him for a wee while but he’s a developing kid.”
McCann never played for United’s senior side but he did make 62 appearances across their various youth teams.
He made his debut for Rangers’ B side in a 2-1 win over East Kilbride on Sunday (August 8th).
He played the full 90 minutes as goals from Tony Weston and Adam Devine sealed the victory.
