Hutton makes 'unbelievable' Rangers claim as Gerrard warned of unhappy Ibrox stars
Alan Hutton has warned some Rangers players could grow unhappy due to the “unbelievable” squad depth at Ibrox.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers defender suggested Steven Gerrard would struggle to give everyone the game time they want this season.
Rangers managed to beat Livingston 3-0 in their Premiership opener without Borna Barisic, Alfredo Morelos or Jermain Defoe in the squad.
Allan McGregor was an unused substitute while Scott Wright, John Lundstram and Kemar Roofe all came off the bench.
Hutton admitted Gerrard had worked wonders to improve the quality running through the squad at Ibrox.
However, he suggested some players could grow frustrated if they do not feature enough.

Discussing the squad depth at Ibrox, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s unbelievable.
“I think that’s the biggest thing I can see over the last couple of seasons, what Steven Gerrard and his backroom staff have done for the squad.
“They’ve really given it strength in depth, which they obviously didn’t have at the start. The big thing is it’s difficult to keep all these players happy.
“That’s probably the biggest headache that the manager will have. I read his comments about the size of the squad, only being able to pick 18 and leaving so many players out.
“That is probably going to be his biggest worry this year. Looking at the bigger picture, and I’m sure he will explain this to his players, if they want to go all the way in the league, if they want to go far in cup competitions as well as Europe, you need a squad.
“You need a big squad that are all willing to fight, put everything on the line and challenge each other to be better. I think you need that with so many games through the season.”
