Hutton: Rangers handed 'massive' boost after what 'I've seen' from Katic
Rangers have been handed a “massive” boost with Nikola Katic back in training, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Gers full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted he is delighted the “fantastic” centre-back is back in the fold.
Speaking to Rangers TV (July 4th), Katic revealed he was ready to resume full training again after 12 months on the sidelines.
The Croatia international suffered a serious knee injury in July 2020 that forced him to miss the entirety of last season.
Hutton insisted the 24-year-old faces a fight to force his way back into Rangers’ starting XI.
However, he admitted he was hugely impressed by pictures and footage of the defender in training.

Asked how much of a boost Katic’s return would be, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’ll be absolutely massive.
“I obviously feel for him, it’s such a bad injury and he’s been out for such a long time. From what I’ve seen, it looks like he’s really looked after himself.
“He’s decided to take his time with the injury, make sure it’s right. He’s bulked up, he looks like he’s raring to go.
“Anything I’ve seen over social media, he’s got a smile on his face, looking happy. He wants to be part of it.
“It’s just such a shame that he missed such a massive season and celebration. He’ll be looking to force his way back in. There’s obviously a lot of options.
“Against Partick Thistle you had Simpson playing, Edmundson is back in the fold. It’s going to be tough to break back in, but he’s a fantastic player.
“He’s got all the attributes to be a top centre-half and he’ll be looking to show that in this pre-season.”
