Hutton makes 'unbelievable' claim as Rangers source drops update on Goldson contract talks
Alan Hutton has insisted Connor Goldson deserves to be “rewarded” with a new contract at Rangers.
The former Gers full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, raved over the 28-year-old’s “unbelievable” performances and leadership on the way to the Premiership title last term.
As revealed by Football Insider on July 1st, Rangers are confident Goldson will pen a new deal at Ibrox amid interest from West Ham.
An Ibrox source has told Football Insider a new and improved contract is expected to be signed before the window shuts next month.
Goldson’s current terms are set to expire next year.
As such, Hutton admitted it was “key” the Glasgow giants get him tied down.

Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “Unbelievable. Absolute rock.
“All the times I was at Ibrox and I managed to see him, I was even more impressed every time I returned. It wasn’t just the way he played, it was his leadership skills also.
“He was a definite captain in my eyes and he took that role on when James (Tavernier) was injured. He stepped up to the plate.
“Mister reliable, mister dependable, he’s always there. He’s very robust.
“I’m glad to see him getting rewarded, hopefully, and it will be unbelievable if he signs a new contract.
“The spine of your team needs to be strong moving forward. That’s what you build your team around, the spine, and he’s key to everything they do. Hopefully, they can get it over the line.”
Goldson played in all of Rangers 56 games across all competitions last season.
He has a total of 162 appearances under his belt for the Light Blues.
