Hutton tells Celtic fans to ‘get used to it’ after what he spotted from Brendan Rodgers

Celtic fans will have to “get used to” Brendan Rodgers’ style of play.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton insisted that Rodgers’ side won’t play like former boss Ange Postecoglou’s and fans will need to come to terms with that.

The Hoops have endured a bumpy start to life back under Rodgers with many fans still holding a grudge over the way he left last time around.

Before Sunday’s (3 September) narrow win over their Glasgow rivals, the Celts were beaten and knocked out of the Viaplay Cup in a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock and dropped their first points of the new campaign in a 0-0 draw with St Johnstone.

Despite the goalless scoreline against St Johnstone, the Hoops had 19 shots to the Saints’ five and had over 75 per cent possession.

Hutton urged fans not to get stuck in the past.

“I think Ange came in and was a revelation,” he told Football Insider.

He tried something different, he was aggressive, he smothered teams. Even when it came to Rangers at times it was difficult to break through them they were just that aggressive and on the front foot of every game.

Going from that, to more possession-based and trying to have more control of the full game, is something different that fans won’t be used to but they will have to get used to it because that is the way Brendan Rodgers will play.

They just have to be more clinical, they are creating these opportunities but they have to finish them.
