Alan Hutton has urged Santiago Moreno to snub Leeds United to join Rangers this summer.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the America de Cali attacker is in a “fantastic” position with both clubs chasing him.
As revealed by Football Insider, Rangers and Leeds are set to go head to head in the race to sign the 21-year-old winger this summer.
Valued at £5million, Moreno is known for his electrifying pace down the flanks.
He has also operated as a centre forward on occasion.
Hutton admitted playing in the Premier League with Leeds would be a “massive opportunity” for Moreno.
However, he urged the young forward to pick Ibrox over Elland Road.
Asked if he thought Rangers or Leeds had the advantage, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Look, it’s difficult. The lure of the Premier League is absolutely huge, massive in terms of for a player.
“I’m just trying to think in his shoes, you’re going up against some of the best players in the world week in, week out, in the strongest league. Let’s face it, Leeds are an excellent team. They’re not going to be fighting relegation. They’re looking to be top 10 and build.
“It’s a massive opportunity for him but on the flip side of that coin, you can go to Rangers. They’ve got a fantastic, young manager at the moment.
“They’re looking to build, go forward and win trophies. Hopefully, they’ll be playing in the Champions League.
“It’s a fantastic position to be in for a striker at the moment. It’ll be a real tough choice but hopefully, for me, I want him to pick Rangers.”
Moreno has netted six goals and contributed four assists for Americo CD this season.
Rangers have already confirmed the signing of striker Fashion Sakala on a pre-contract deal ahead of the summer.
