'I feel I do well' - Celtic outcast makes unexpected claim about his Hoops career
Celtic outcast Cristian Gamboa has made a bizarre claim about his time at the club so far.
The Costa Rica right-back, who is set to feature for his country in the upcoming World Cup in Russia, has claimed that he has performed well for the Bhoys when called upon by Brendan Rodgers.
Those performances has been few and far between, as the 28-year-old made only three appearances for the Hoops last season, but that hasn’t stopped him from giving his forthright opinion.
“Every time I get a chance to play for Celtic, I feel I do well, so I know how important it is to always being prepared” he said, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“Right now, I just want to play, be fit and be ready for the national team and for Celtic when the season starts.”
Gamboa last played for the Hoops in February in a goalless draw v St Johnstone.

There is nothing wrong with having confidence in your abilities, and Cristian Gamboa certainly seems to have that. And who can blame him, after all, he is one of the few Hoops players set to feature in the World Cup in Russia. But he does seem mistaken if he thinks that his performances have been good enough for the Hoops, as they haven’t been so far, in his two years at the club. Even more intriguing is Gamboa’s plan to be ‘ready’ for the Bhoys for the start of next season. This is very laudable, but it seems highly unlikely that he has any type of future at all with the Hoops. Brendan Rodgers would have given him more chances in the first team if he really believed in the right-back, but those chances have been few and far between, If any acceptable offer comes in for the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window, you would imagine that the player would be on his way out of Glasgow.
