Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson.
The two men will be up against each other for the first time this season in tomorrow’s Betfred Cup Final at Hampden Park.
Rodgers appreciates the job his fellow Northern Irishman has done at Fir Park, and he revealed to Sky Sports that the two once talked football during Rodgers’ time at Liverpool.
The Celtic manager said: “We had a great day talking football and talking about Northern Ireland and everything that goes with it.
“When I analyse them and see the intensity at which they work and play with, they leave nothing in the changing room,” he continued.
“They deserve to be in the final. They got the results to demonstrate that. I have been very impressed by how he has started at Motherwell.”
The Betfred Cup Final is the first of a trilogy of games between Celtic and Motherwell that will take place in six days.
The teams continue their rivalry at Fir Park on Wednesday night then meet for the final time at Celtic Park next Saturday.
Tomorrow’s final is the first between the sides since Celtic defeated the Steelmen 3-0 in 2011’s Scottish Cup Final.
