Arsene Wenger made it clear that he will do his best to keep Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez’ at the club despite both players enter the final 12 months of their contract.
The Sunday Express has reported that Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, is wanted by Premier League champions Chelsea this summer after a frustrating previous season at the Emirates.
The England international has been at the north London club since 2011 when he was a teenager, and his boss has revealed that he wants to build the future Arsenal squad around the England international.
“He is one of the players this team has to be built around in the future, personally I want him to commit to the club and to be one of the carrier of the values of our team,” Wenger told the club’s official website.
“I want to keep my best players. I only have one target: to keep everybody on board.

“I think we invested a lot of time, confidence and money on players like Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who we bought at a young age.”
After revealing his thoughts on Oxlade-Chamberlain the French manager was asked about Alexis Sanchez.
The 28-year-old’s future with the club is in question with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain widely reported to be keeping tabs on his situation at the Emirates.
Now, as deadline day looms, Wenger claims that the Chile international is content at the north London club and that there is still a chance to extend his time there.
“He is very focused, very happy and as I told you before, the fact that he goes into the last year of his contract does not mean we have no chance to extend it,” Wenger explained.
“At the moment we have not managed to do it, but we just want to focus as a team and not look too much at the individual conditions of the contracts of everybody because what is important is what you want to achieve forever.”
Both players look likely to appear in the Gunners squad which will travel to Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool in their third match of the new Premier League season.

The news surrounding the two players’ futures will delight fans, but it slightly sounds like Wenger is trying to convince himself that the players will stay. If that’s the case, then he needs to act upon securing deals, especially if he is planning ahead to build the future squad around Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Sanchez news will bring a sigh of relief among supporters as the saga surrounding his transfer has been a huge talking point as he looked destined for an exit. This boost could lead to improved confidence on the pitch and therefore a comeback for the Gunners after they suffered a disappointing defeat to Stoke City at the weekend.
