Ian Taylor delivers strong message after Aston Villa defeat against Wolves
By Amir Mir
Ian Taylor has stated that Aston Villa were simply “not good enough” during their 1-0 loss to Wolves on Saturday evening.
Steve Bruce’s side fell to a third straight defeat in all competitions when Joe Mason’s first-half strike was enough to seal all three points for Paul Lambert’s side.
Villa produced a static and laboured performance as they failed to get a shot on target throughout the match and test the opposition goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.
Striker Ross McCormack had the best opportunity for the away team when he headed over Jordan Amavi’s cross from inside the penalty area.
After the game, former midfielder Taylor delivered this strong message about the display as posted on his personal Twitter account:

Disappointed after yesterday big time. Not good enough. I know the powers that be are doing their utmost to get players in. A big job on!

The defeat at Molineux means Villa are now ten points adrift of the final play-off spot which is currently being held by Sheffield Wednesday.
Bruce’s side, who are unbeaten on home soil this season, take on Preston at Villa Park for their next Championship match.
However, they have won only two encounters on the road this season, both under Bruce when they picked up wins against Reading and QPR prior to the new year.
Villa’s next away trip will be on January 31 when they take on Brentford at Griffin Park – Dean Smith’s side are currently two points below them in the table.
