Ian Taylor posts vengeful Twitter message ahead of Aston Villa clash against Leeds

By Will Butcher

Ian Taylor has called on Aston Villa to secure revenge on Thursday night as they prepare to face fellow big gun Leeds at Villa Park.

The Yorkshire giants were victorious in the reverse fixture with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Kemar Roofe and Chris Wood at Elland Road, but Taylor is desperate to see his former side triumph in the second meeting of the two giants.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, Taylor claimed that it “would be good” to secure revenge at Villa Park as the two meet in the high-profile Championship duel.

Villa go into the game in fine fettle after securing two victories in their last two games, with wins against Burton Albion and QPR.

The relegated Premier League side are now just six points drift of the play-offs, and a win against Garry Monk’s Yorkshire giants could see them draw even closer to sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.

Steve Bruce will be looking to enter the busy January period with a win and his eighth since taking charge of the Midlands giants in mid-October

However, they will face an in-form side in Leeds who have won eight of their last 10 Championship encounters as former Swansea boss Monk continues to inspire his side.

During his nine-year stint at Villa Park, Taylor scored 43 goals in 296 games as well as picking up runners-up medals in both the FA Cup and the League Cup.

In other Aston Villa news, fans have reacted on Twitter as Bruce closes in on sanctioning a Premier League striker deal.
