Ianis Hagi sends two-word response amid claims of Rangers exit request
Ianis Hagi has delivered an emphatic response to claims that he has asked to leave Rangers in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder is currently set to be out of contract at Ibrox at the end of this season, meaning he could leave the Scottish giants on a free transfer.
It is understood that a number of clubs have already made offers to sign Hagi when his deal with Rangers expires in the summer.
For now though, it seems the 26-year-old is keen to make it clear that he has not made a definitive decision about leaving the ‘Gers in the coming months.

Ianis Hagi reacts to transfer claim
On Friday (11 April), the Daily Record covered reports from elsewhere claiming that Hagi has told his current club he plans to leave in the summer amid interest from Fenerbahce.
Rangers of course beat the Turkish side on penalties in the Europa League round of 16 just last month, ending manager Jose Mourinho’s hopes of European success this season.
Ianis Hagi for Rangers in 2024/25 | Total (as per SofaScore) |
Appearances | 22 |
Goals | 3 |
Assists | 5 |
Pass Success Rate | 81% |
Duel Success Rate | 50% |
Dribble Success Rate | 48% |
However, Hagi has been quick to dismiss any suggestions that he has already made it clear he will be leaving Glasgow at the end of this season.
Taking to his X account on Saturday (12 April), the Rangers midfielder shared a post about those reports linking him with a move to Fenerbahce, before quoting a line that simply said: “Fake news!”.
Rangers given a boost with transfer update
It will be something of a relief for those at Ibrox that the midfielder has come out with this sort of response to these claims.
It is understood that Rangers are doing all they can to keep Hagi beyond the end of this season amid that interest from elsewhere.
The Romanian has enjoyed some impressive form at Ibrox over the course of the season, showing how good he can be.
As a result it would be a boost for the club to keep him, and could be seem as something of a statement of intent given that interest from elsewhere.
Of course, Hagi has not ruled out a departure from Rangers with this comment, but dismissing claims he has told them he wants to leave does at least give some hope that he could remain at the club.
With that in mind it seems clear that the midfielder’s future will remain something to follow with a close interest between now and the end of the season.
