Tyrese Campbell is ready to sign a new Stoke City contract after rejecting an offer from Rangers, Football Insider has learned.

The England Under-20 striker has been the subject of strong interest from the Scottish giants this month and they had held talks over a transfer.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Campbell has personally told Rangers he will not be moving to the club either in this window or when his Stoke contract expires in the summer.

The in-demand striker has shared the same information to Celtic, who have also tried to persuade the forward to sign although they had lagged behind their bitter rivals in the race.

Now, Campbell is expected to remain at Stoke and pen a new deal rather than join one of the Premier League clubs pursuing him.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month that Wolves, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have joined the hunt to sign the versatile forward, while there is also strong interest from Sheffield United.

Stoke have offered Campbell a lucrative long-term deal to keep him and Michael O’Neill has made it clear how much he wants to build his team’s attack around the son of ex-Everton and Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell.

He has been the focal point of the Potters attack in recent weeks and has responded with a number of key goals, including in Monday’s 1-0 Championship win over leaders West Brom.

It is a major blow to Rangers, who had hoped the combination of a big-money offer, their resurgence and Steven Gerrard’s personal interest would help to seal the deal in their favour.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier this week, the Scottish giants have been working to tie Campbell down to a pre-contract agreement and have offered him an improved deal in recent days.
