Rangers fans have been disappointed over the last week with how their side have gone from potential title challengers to also-rans following back-to-back defeats to Celtic and Kilmarnock.
Some Gers fans think the Ibrox board should make an immediate move for Killie boss Steve Clarke after the way the former Chelsea and Liverpool assistant has turned the Rugby Park side around.
If Rangers are to make any change in the manager’s office – either now or in the summer – they need to be looking further afield than the likes of Clarke who has yet to have any real long-term success as a boss in his own right.
While there aren’t a plethora of of candidates who immediately rush to mind as being a strong bet to bring success to the Gers, director of football Mark Allen may have to use his contacts in the game to find a suitable manager to stop Celtic getting to a tenth title in a row.
Names like Frank de Boer, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Rino Gattuso have all been mentioned by fans online as potential long-term managers for the Ibrox giants but all seem unlikely to be appearing at Ibrox any time soon.
If 54-year-old Clarke is the answer for Rangers’ managerial dilemma they might very well find themselves following Reading and West Brom’s lead and getting rid of him before the end of his second season.
In other Rangers news,, fans have blasted Barry Ferguson for his claim about a Gers defeat.
